TRAP BAR SQUAT

The trap bar squat is not an exercise where you only hold on to a handle and raise your upper body, but is a floor lift that stretches your knees and hips together in the center of the bar.

When you stand inside a trap bar and lift it with a neutral grip, the load wraps around your body and is more likely to rest closer to the middle of your feet than with a regular barbell. However, even if the name is a squat, there is a hip hinge element that starts from the floor, and the contribution of the knee and hip joints varies depending on the height of the handle and body type. This is a movement that combines hip hinge and knee extension to lift the load from the floor. The weight varies depending on your posture and handle height, so look at the actual movement rather than the name.

STEP BY STEP

4 Steps for One Complete Rep

Starting position, standing in the center of the trap bar, holding the neutral handle, knees and hips bent.
Place both feet centered in front and behind the trap bar and hold the handles in the same position. Place your shoulders slightly in front of or above your hands, but keep your back and abdominals tight.

If your feet are too far forward or too far back, the handle may become skewed during the ascent and one disc may lift first. Before starting, check the gap between the frame and your feet left, right, front and back.
