Net carbs are the carbohydrates your body digests into glucose — total carbohydrates minus fiber and (by the common convention) half of any sugar alcohols. On keto and low-carb diets people track net carbs rather than total carbs because fiber and most sugar alcohols have little impact on blood sugar. Enter the values from a nutrition label to get both the standard net carbs and the simpler fiber-only figure used in some countries.

Net carbs estimate the carbohydrates that actually raise blood sugar. The common low-carb method subtracts all fiber and half of sugar alcohols from total carbs. Fiber and most sugar alcohols are poorly absorbed, so they have little effect on blood glucose.
