Vertical Jump Power Calculator

A vertical jump is the simplest field test of lower-body explosive power, but jump height alone does not tell you how much power you produced. Enter your jump height and body weight, and this calculator returns your peak power using the Sayers equation, your relative power in watts per kilogram, your take-off velocity and your flight time. Use it to track jump training, compare power across athletes, or set objective targets for explosiveness.

Peak power uses the Sayers equation: 60.7 × jump height (cm) + 45.3 × body mass (kg) − 2055, the most widely validated estimate of lower-body explosive power from a countermovement jump. Take-off velocity and flight time come from projectile physics (v = √(2gh)). Relative power (W/kg) lets you compare athletes of different sizes. Measure jump height consistently — reach-and-jump or a jump mat — for the numbers to be comparable over time.
