- It estimates your step and stride length from your height. Since taller people generally take longer steps, the tool applies height-based ratios for walking or running and also calculates how many steps you take to cover a kilometre.
- How do I estimate stride length from height?
- Enter your height and choose walking or running. The calculator multiplies your height by a typical ratio, around 0.41 to 0.45 for walking steps, to estimate step and stride length without needing to measure your steps directly.
- What is the difference between step length and stride length?
- Step length is the distance from one foot's heel strike to the other foot's heel strike, while stride length covers two steps, from one heel strike to the next strike of the same foot. Stride length is therefore about double your step length.
